Vertilux is now more than ever committed to its community. This is why we are making fabric and ribbon, of the highest quality and resistance, available to all volunteers who have the capacity to produce homemade face masks.
Hand made face masks are not perfect, but in the light of recent shortages of medical-grade protective masks, they may be the best option for some people.
The new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, is a dangerous, airborne illness. It has already spread to several countries, including in the United States. Its rapid spread and a lack of preparation by government officials has left frontline workers without access to the protective equipment necessary.
Before, infectious disease experts questioned the value of hand made face masks as a defense against viruses. But now those experts are urging medical professionals who only have access to limited protective equipment to use hand made face masks if they have absolutely no other alternative.
Vertilux puts all the material at your disposal, but our hands are not enough for the number of masks that our doctors, nurses, and first responders need. That is why we need you.
If you have a sewing machine at home or business, and time to dedicate to doing good for those who are giving their all in hospitals and health centers, we invite you to join this initiative.
Each Face Mask kit includes the fabric and the ribbon already cut, making it super easy to produce the masks, the only missing step is sewing the parts together. You can watch a tutorial here.
The Vertilux fabric and ribbon are washable and can be disinfected more than once.
